The Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment (LITE-Africa) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in Nigeria since 1999. LITE-Africa’s vision is to create a safe space for peace and development. Our mission is to facilitate sustainable peace and development, promote human rights and participatory governance in Nigeria through partnerships, advocacy engagements, public awareness and capacity building initiatives. We do this in part by; (a) Create awareness among citizenry to demand for accountability in institutions of governance (b) Promote the rights of the citizenry,(c) Deliver programmes that focus on economic development of stakeholders (d) Maximize all funding sources for sustainable growth, (e) Remain a credible knowledge driven organization in humanitarian crisis and health in Nigeria and beyond.
Our programmes focus on six thematic areas: Security Sector Reform and Peace-building, Good Governance and Accountability, Human Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods, Development Finance Programmes, Humanitarian Support and Health Services.We also have a business arm through the Private Sector Engagement in Development, where we work with various transnational companies for community relations services, training on human rights framework and other social performance assessments tools.The organization has three operational offices in the Niger Delta with headquarters in Effurun-Warri, Delta State.
