Preventing and Addressing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

To mark the release of ICoCA’s ‘Guidelines for Private Security Providers on Preventing and Addressing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse‘ ICoCA convened a panel to consider what role private security companies should play in preventing and addressing sexual exploitation and abuse.

Among other questions, panelists considered:

• Why is it important for private security companies to adopt policies to prevent and address sexual exploitation and abuse?
• Which best practices, such as those stemming from the humanitarian world, could private security companies incorporate into their internal policies?
• What are the recommendations included in the ICoCA Guidelines and how onerous is it for companies to implement them?
• What is the role of states in promoting business compliance with preventing and addressing sexual exploitation and abuse requirements?
